Just outside of beautiful Harriet, Arkansas, about five miles from the famed town of Rush lies this beautiful hidden gem.
This trail has a bit of everything, two large bluff shelters, the devil’s icebox sinkhole, a small mine, tons of small crevices, waterfalls, springs, a beautiful creek, a natural bathtub, and a hill that is murderous when you leave.
I wouldn’t recommend this hike if you have heart issues or knee / mobility issues. It has an 800 foot change in elevation, and let me tell you, it’s all at once.
If you can physically handle it, this trail is amazing. Filled with the beauty of nature. The trail itself is 3.8 miles, but you can expect to walk around 4.5 by the time you explore the Indian Rockhouse Cave and Pebble Springs. One of the most geologically significant finds in this bluff shelter, is an active cave ecosystem with cave crickets, living stalactite and stalagmite formations. Very unusual for an open bluff shelter.
